I first met Megan at The Boiler Room in Greenville. Her talented boyfriend, Gage was leading worship with my talented husband one evening. She sat behind me with some of her friends. I was introduced to her later that evening & little did I know that she and Gage would be engaged a few months later & that Kevin and I would have the honor of photographing their wedding.
My next meeting with Megan was more conversational and rightfully so. She and Gage had been engaged for a little over a month and were less than a month away from their wedding. Yes, you read that correctly. They were engaged on December 18, 2013 at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. Plans were in the works for a June wedding and then their plans rapidly changed when Gage received a job offer. I’ll let Megan explain. She shared their story so beautifully on Facebook…
“On New Year’s, Gage applied for a worship pastor position in Edenton, NC. The pastor contacted him immediately and scheduled Gage to lead worship for their 3 morning services later in January. If he accepted this position, he would begin in March. After discussing our options, him go ahead and me joining him after we get married in June, a destination wedding, him traveling back and forth most of the time, none of these were right. We wanted to be together and experience this adventure God has in store for us together. Walking by faith we decided to move the wedding from June to….February 15!”
That night over dinner at Matchbox in downtown Goldsboro, I, too, fell in love with Megan’s heart; a simple, incredibly down-to-earth woman with a heart of gold, she truly cares for others more than herself. Moving her wedding date didn’t frighten her, sure there were a lot of details to iron out, but she was delighted to be marrying the love of her life even sooner than planned. Seeing them laugh together and complete each other’s sentences, it was so obvious that they were made for each other. And the way Gage would glance at her like she was the only person in the room was so dreamy! He is clearly head over heels for this girl!!!
With the change in dates and the time crunch, Megan and I scheduled a SUNRISE bridal portrait session the same day as Gage’s interview process in Edenton. We knew we’d have to shoot early so that she could make it in time to support him during his interview process. Living in NC, the weather is very confusing. Last week it felt like spring, and today it was sleeting. How crazy! We didn’t really know what to expect with the weather, but Megan kept assuring me that just as she was up for the adventure of moving her wedding date, she was up for this adventure too! On one of the coldest days of the year, we met at 6:45 am for bridal portraits, it was a whopping 19 degrees outside! The sun so gracefully peeked thru the whimsical stratus clouds and we began!
She was such a trooper!
With jeans on under her dress, winter boots, hand warmers, hot tea, fur coats and quick runs to the car to “get some heat”….we made it thru! I love the way these photos capture her personality.
Megan, what an honor to know you. In a world so full of divas, thank you for being yourself, for encouraging young women to pursue purity and patience. It has been a joy to get to know you these past few months and to spend this time with you, showcasing your true beauty is something I will always treasure.
Until next time….
