I have to admit it. Senior sessions are one of my favorite things on this planet. Combine the excitement of an 18 year old on the verge of graduation with the awesomeness of hair styling & a makeover, a sentimental parent who can’t believe their baby is all grown up, and a whimsical photographer (that’s me) who adores capturing the joy in peoples lives….what do you get?! Amazing images & an epic adventure.
I first met with Kara in the fall of 2012 as I was planning for my wedding. We set a date in October and she was pretty excited about being photographed outside as the leaves were changing from green to shades of fiery reds. Unexpectedly I received a call from Kara’s sweet momma letting me know that we would have to reschedule for the spring because Kara had been in and out of the hospital having procedures ran, surgery performed, and had missed several days of school. At that point graduation was uncertain so we felt holding off to see how Kara’s health would do. I was thrilled to hear from Kara and her mom in February saying that things were much better and it was time to reschedule. I knew from the first meeting at Starbucks that Kara was someone who would not only be a jewel to photograph, but a sweet person to get to know.
Kara- it was a true JOY to photograph you. Dream big dreams. Keep laughing…you know, that loud, from deep in your belly laugh that you do so well. Listen to your rock music with the windows down. Embrace the adventures that life throws your way & learn from your mistakes. I can’t wait to see where the future will take you. <3
Special thanks to my amazing friend and insanely talented stylist Cassie Erdmann of Fringe Salon for doing Kara’s fabulous hair & makeup!
